In order to be a representative of the whole Danube appellation KAMPTAL, terraced vineyards and grapes from the lower part of the valley, as well as grapes from the upper and higher altitude part of valley are used. The grapes from the lower part bring the maturity, whereas grapes from the upper part of the valley brings us the freshness in this wine. The ‘classical’ KAMPTAL wine is low in Alcohol (11,5 – 12,5%) and has a pleasant but not obtrusive aroma and fruit character and therefore is a perfect food companion.
Vintage 2022
James Suckling 07/23: 92 points Apples, grapefruit, lemons and peaches on the nose. Subtly honeyed, with a medium body and juicy stone fruit. Mineral and honeycomb notes come through on a long and creamy finish. Sustainable. Drink now or hold. (S.Pigott)
Vintage 2021
The Wine Advocate - R. Parker 09/22: 89 points Opens with a clear and intensely aromatic as well as spicy nose of ripe apricots. Lush and quite dense on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, even fleshy and textured Kamptal Riesling with ripe, well-integrated acidity and good phenolic grip on the finish. (S.Reinhardt)
Vintage 2020
JAMES SUCKLING, May 2021: 93 points Striking nose of lime and green pepper, plus notes of apricot and honeycomb. Very attractive balance of ripeness and lively acidity that extends from the tip of your tongue to the end of the long, silky finish.
