Brut Reserve

    Schloss Gobelsburg;

    Sparkling wine n.v. brut;

    Sekt Austria Reserve Niederösterreich g.U. (PDO)

    Our BRUT RESERVE is the true classic in our
    sparkling wine assortment. Its composition is reflecting the varietal distribution in the area around the winery: a little less than 50% Grüner Veltliner, with Welschriesling, Riesling and Pinot Noir adding to it.

    The typical style of the BRUT RESERVE originates from the cool and animating freshness of the Danube region. High altitude vineyards paired with the personality of the regional grape varieties of Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Noir form the style of this classic sparkling wine. Grapes are harvested at the perfect moment, transported in small boxes and are immediately pressed, whereby only the heart of the must is used. After six months of cask storage, it is bottled for the second fermentation. It matures for between 2 and 3 years on the lees, which helps to develop the wine’s creamy texture, until it is hand riddled and then disgorged.
    ROBERT PARKER - The Wine Advocate 12/21: 90 points
    Vividly yellow-colored this offers an intense yet elegant, refined and floral bouquet of ripe and nutty-scented fruit intermixed with fresh bread notes. Mouthfilling, round and juicy on the palate, with remarkable finesse and a highly delicate finish, this is a round, fruity and perfectly balanced sparkling wine based on grapes from the Kamptal. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in June 2021.

    Wine Enthusiast: 90 points
    A hint of straw and fragrant hay appears alongside the citrus notes on the nose. The palate has fresh lively lemony fizz that accentuates the freshness and slenderness of the palate and turns this into an ideal and totally appetizing aperitif.

    GOURMET TRAVELER WINE: 91 points
    It has an intense, complex nose showing bready, yeast characters and toast. Hints of lemon come through in the mouth with an overall round palate suggesting barrel-fermentation before crisp acidity on the finish. It is showing hints of development, butter, nuts and croissant, tight structure, ripe and green apple and a thick acid line. A touch of reduction adds interest.
