The most southeasterly part of the Gföhler gneiss plate is marked by slaty para-gneiss, amphibolite and mica. Some parts of the Riesling terraces belong to the oldest vineyards of the winery. They form a very classic, precise Riesling, refined yet intense, with great purity and ageing potential.

Complex aromas of ripe stone fruit and toast. A rich and powerful spice is outlined with just enough fruit and stone to carry it all the way home. Lively, shaping acidity and delicate citrus finish. (Paula Sidore)

This richly textural, but only medium-bodied, Gaisberg dry riesling has an exciting thread of flinty minerality woven into it. Delicate stone fruit aromas in the nose, but at the finish candied orange peel mingles with the stony character and leesy complexity. Made for the long term. (S. Pigott)

Offers a clear, precise and spicy apricot nose with spicy notes of black rock splinters. Lush and savory as well as saline on the palate, with crystalline acidity and almost tropical fruit (passion fruit), this is a very elegant and aromatic, tightly structured yet perfectly balanced and sustainable Gaisberg Riesling with stimulating purity and crystallinity. (S.Reinhardt)
James Suckling - Weekly Report: 95 points
This has very distinctive blood-orange character that’s not quite like any other Austrian dry riesling that I can remember. Also plenty of nectarine fruit on the generous palate that has a level of generosity that’s rare in this vintage. Like a great ocean liner ploughing through the waves, at the finish it feels unstoppable. Drink or hold.
Jancis Robinson - Austrias Top Rieslings 11/'22 - 17,5 points
Orange zest, bright tropical aromas (pineapple and star fruit) and deep herbal undertones. Complex and clarion with a lithe structure and smoky minerality. Tropical finish lets in the sea breeze, even as the beach calls from the horizon. (Paula Sidore)

ROBERT PARKER - The Wine Advocate: 98 points
The 2019 Zöbing Ried Gaisberg 1ÖTW is a picture-book Kamptal Riesling! Super clear, refined and aromatic on the complex and exciting nose, it reveals apricot and elderflower aromas intertwined with crunchy slate spices (shaly paragneiss, amphibolite and mica shist) that give a very distinctive bouquet. The palate starts electrifying in all its vitality and immediately opens to a palatable Riesling paradise built on perfectly ripe and concentrated fruit (still stone fruits). This Gaisberg Riesling is generous, intense and fleshy but also highly fine, fresh and elegant on the palate, which is as balanced as it is dense and tensioned, leading to a spectacular, long and vivacious finish that makes this 2019 Gaisberg one the finest and most digestible Austrian Rieslings I have had in 20 years.
    James Suckling - Austria´s 2019 vintage report: 96 points
Ripe mango, a ton of spice and serious concentration make this an imposing, traditional style of Austrian dry riesling. Lots of power at the long finish, where you also get some exotic fruit to go with the substantial portion of spice and minerals.
