Vintage 2022 FALSTAFF Ultimate Wine Guide 24/25: 97 points International WINE & SPIRITS Awards: 96 points - Great Gold JAMES SUCKLING - weekly report 10/24: 95 points From a site that is usually all about sleek elegance, this is remarkably substantial and richly textural on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Wonderful fine tannins, candied citrus fruit and complex dried flower character. Lovely fresh acidity for the hot and dry vintage at the long, delicately spicy finish. (Stuart Pigott)
VINOUS - Antonio Galloni 06/24: 95 points The nose is creamy and smooth, enveloping ripe apricot flesh. The palate adds bright, ripe Amalfi lemon to this creamy, nutty apricot combo, giving even more outline to this juiciness. Salty stone lies at the core, completely bound up in citric freshness, apricot ripeness and oaky cream, tapering to a precise, juicy, immense finish. (Bone-dry) - Anne Krebiehl MW
Vintage 2021 FALSTAFF Ultimate Wine Guide 24/25: 98 points Bright golden yellow, green reflections. A complex bouquet with subtle herbal notes, white stone fruit, delicate hints of honey, fig jelly, grapefruit and orange zest. Good complexity on the palate, tightly meshed, fresh acidity, mineral with a touch of lemon, hints of vine peach on the salty finish. A multi-layered food wine, very approachable already, but with definite ageing potential.

Ried Heiligenstein Erste Lage on youtube! Bright light golden with a green hue. Pure, bright and aromatic with spring flowers, lemongrass, pale stone fruit, crushed stone and ripe citrus. The palate shows an amazing purity and concentration, rich in fine extract and a ripe acidity with succulent yellow fruit notes, some exotic lime, mint and mango flavours still with a stony presence with great vibrancy and tremendously long finish.
The World of Fine Wine Mag. 82/2023: 95 points A rich, burnished gold, generous aromatic of plum, truffles, flowers and petrichor. The wine has magnificent intensity and length, grip and generosity - powerful and assertive yet without losing its linear grace. (Simon Field MW)
Jancis Robinson: 17,5 points Perfumed peach notes lead seamlessly into a rich and vibrant palate busting with playful juiciness. Lime and spice, rock dust. Delicate, drying grip with precise, stony contours etched deep and true. Beautiful and nuanced and, given time, that characteristic orange blossom evolves. A compelling and eloquent expression. (Paula Sidore)
James Suckling: 95 points Very striking nose of mirabelle and wild herbs. Quite some richness and creaminess (from long sur lie maturation) for the Heiligenstein vineyard site, but it is married to an elegant acidity and delicate spice. Very long herb and floral honey finish that’s simultaneously ripe, dark and cool. Still a bit shy. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. (Stuart Pigott)
Vintage 2020 FALSTAFF Ultimate Wine Guide 24/25: 95 points The Wine Advocat - R. Parker 09/22: 96 points Opens with a clear, bright and savory bouquet of sandstone, salt, ripe stone fruits and tea. Lush and round on the palate, this is a textured, very elegant and balanced Heiligenstein Riesling with a lingering, fine salinity on the highly elegant and aromatic finish. This is again an excellent, quiet and perfectly balanced Riesling from one of the greatest Riesling sites along the Danube River. The 2020 already drinks beautifully but can be aged for two or three decades. (S.Reinhardt)
JAMES SUCKLING - Weekly Report: 95 points This fascinating and extremely complex dry riesling has an incredibly wide aroma spectrum, from rhubarb and ripe gooseberry to wild flowers and herbs. At once rich and tense, with tons of wet stone minerality, this is precisely balanced on the blade of a razor-sharp knife. Drink or hold.
Jancis Robinson - Austrias Top Rieslings 11/'22 - 17 points Charming orange and grapefruit aromas mingle into a beautiful palate pulsating with acidity and light. Pepper spice and insane minerality, stony-craggy rather than smoky-sultry. Radiant with an elegant, lingering texture and grip. (Paula Sidore)
Vintage 2019 ROBERT PARKER - The Wine Advocate: 99 points The intensely yellow-colored 2019 Zöbing Ried Heiligenstein 1ÖTW opens with a deep, highly refined and subtle yet also complex bouquet that doesn't throw out anything else but noblesse, precision and finesse and quotes perfectly ripe and elegant (stone) fruit aromas intertwined with this distinctive crystalline and crunchy Heiligenstein sandstone and tea notes that are irresistibly alluring and almost (white) peppery. Crystalline, refined and very elegant on the palate, this is a dense, round, intense and highly complex, firmly structured and very persistent Heiligenstein whose only problem is that most of the consumers will probably drink it too soon. I understand the reason, but I recommend holding back as many bottles as possible for a later divertimento. This is a great Heiligenstein, and it was stable over a period of two weeks.
JAMES SUCKLING - Austria Report Vintage 2019: 95 points Ripe and spicy with a touch of dried pear alongside the fresh peach, this dry riesling makes a serious statement. Lots of underplayed power here, the acidity quite supple at the long spicy finish that’s well supported by positive tannins.
